Faith Bible Fellowship's Youth Program
In our society today youth is exalted. People are always trying to look younger, and act younger. Athletes leave school as early as possible to turn pro because they don’t want to lose there best years. There is even an abundance of surgeries people can have in order to hold onto their youth. Yet often times when we look at the youth in our churches, we don’t see young people becoming adults, we see young people, well, being young and immature.
Our ministry is committed to helping teens live lives devoted to Jesus Christ, and His Word. The teenage years are often a confusing and interesting time of life where much can be gained, and also much can be lost. During this time of physical, social, and intellectual growth, we aim to point our young adults to Christ and challenge them to live a Christ-like life. That is our desire for every young adult that walks through the doors of our church.
Through God’s grace, we will fulfill this desire through these five aspects...
1. Expository Teaching of God’s Word. This is met through the teaching of God’s Word that is focused on their age group. The aim is to cause them to see their need for Christ, and to be faithful in obedience to God’s Word.
2. Discipleship Groups/Accountability. Many of our young adults are involved in our discipleship program. This is focused on developing a habit of Bible reading and study. The goal is for them to be accountable to one another, their leaders, and also to learn how to study God’s Word in order to gain the most from Scripture.
3. Ministry Opportunities. Each year we participate in a variety of ministry/mission events. These events give our young adults a great opportunity not only to live a godly life through being an example of Christ. It also gives them the opportunity to teach God’s Word to others. Whether it is Vacation Bible School, or service projects, our teenagers are happy to serve and God is using them.
4. Leadership. Our young adults also have opportunities to grow and develop through our leadership program. Our youth leaders meet on a regular basis in order to discuss the state of our ministry, and ways to improve and build upon the future. Our leaders are given opportunities to serve and be an example of Christ among their peers.
5. Fellowship and Fun. Also we desire to provide fun in a Christian context. It is interesting to see what teenagers label as fun in our day. We aim to provide a place where young adults can avoid the temptations they face and still have a good time. That is fulfilled by game nights, bowling, youth retreats, and camp.
It appear that the success of youth ministry today is defined by how many people are attending. However, we believe success is defined by our faithfulness to God’s Word, and to those who are in our ministry. We pray God will use our ministry to cause growth, and to give the church a solid future of leadership.
